Samsung’s October 2026 security update closes security vulnerabilities on devices without making any changes to the interface. The package contains a total of 83 fixes. On Google’s side, 9 critical and 33 high-risk issues have been resolved, while Samsung closed 27 vulnerabilities specific to Galaxy devices; 4 high-risk patches from Samsung Semiconductor were also added.
Among the issues fixed are lock screen vulnerabilities that could allow access to data while the phone is locked, memory errors in the audio system, and a “use-after-free” vulnerability that could allow attackers to execute code with system privileges.
The update is being rolled out to supported devices running versions between Android 14 and Android 17; the Galaxy S26 series, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Fold 8, are also on the list. If “SMR Oct-2026 Release 1” appears under Settings > Software update, the update has reached your device. The rollout is not carried out for all models at the same time.
