Google Photos could replace Microsoft OneDrive in Samsung’s Gallery app on Galaxy devices. Although version 1.6.09.31 of Gallery Cloud Sync released for One UI 9.0 includes Google Photos integration, the feature has not yet been made available.
The fact that Microsoft OneDrive support will end on September 30, 2026, suggests that the new integration could go live on October 1. According to images from users with early access, storage, syncing, space cleanup, and additional storage options will be manageable through Gallery.
Why it matters
This change could mean that Galaxy users will shift from Microsoft accounts to Google services for photo backup and storage management. Retaining the management options within Gallery could allow users to continue syncing and freeing up space without switching to a separate app. However, the integration’s presence only in a version seen for One UI 9.0 leaves it unclear which Galaxy devices it will extend to. It has also not been clarified whether existing backups will be transferred automatically to Google Photos when OneDrive support ends or whether users will need to take additional action. Because the feature has not yet been enabled, October 1 is not a confirmed date; it remains only a possibility based on the support end date.
