Digital interface design on the screen

Instant Interface Generation Without Coding

Runway, which works on artificial intelligence-based media technologies, has introduced Solaris, a new artificial intelligence system it describes as an Interface World Model. Announced on August 31, 2026, the system completely eliminates the code layers used in traditional software development, such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Developed using the Gen-4.5 video infrastructure, Solaris processes the clicks and dragging movements users perform on the screen as instant command signals and generates the interface live, frame by frame.

Combining Reasoning with Visual Processing

Solaris’s architecture brings reasoning and visual processing functions together under two separate structures. The large language model behind the system identifies the user’s intention and the changes that need to be made to the interface. The world model then transfers these decisions to the screen at 720p resolution and a rate of 37 milliseconds per frame.

This method completely eliminates data loss and visual quality degradation that occur when a design is translated into code.

Variable Adaptability in User Experience

The model’s ability to work solely with visual data allows it to be used in different fields, from interactive shopping platforms to simulations. For example, in a digital clothing store, users can drag a garment on a rack onto their own images based on their personal photos and try the product on directly. According to internal evaluations, users prefer the interfaces generated by Solaris by between 61% and 71% more than designs coded using the traditional Claude Opus 5.

Questions About Uncertainty and Reliability

Although removing the code layer between the design and working software accelerates the process, it eliminates deterministic—that is, stable-state—guarantees. In production-oriented systems, issues such as ensuring that a button responds the same way every time it is clicked, as well as data security and accessibility standards, have not yet been fully resolved.

Runway continues to test the product through a limited early access program due to technical shortcomings such as text rendering clarity and state drift during long sessions.
