The AI-powered fashion discovery app Daydream has introduced two new features that allow iPhone users to shop from photos of saved clothing items and search for products via Siri without opening the app. The features were developed using Apple’s iOS 27 developer tools, which became available today. To use them, users need an iPhone running iOS 27 with Siri AI enabled, as well as the Daydream app installed. The app can be downloaded for free on iOS devices.

The first feature analyzes images in the Photos app to identify items such as sweaters, trousers, shoes and accessories shown in a photo. It then presents purchasable matches and similar styles from Daydream’s catalog of approximately 3 million products. This allows a screenshot of an outfit found on Instagram or Pinterest to be turned into a shopping search. If the item in the image is still available for sale, the app directs the user to the relevant retailer; if it cannot be found, it shows similar options. Users can also request changes, such as asking for the sweater in the photo to be red.

The second feature enables natural-language searches by voice or text through Siri. Users can search for, for example, a blazer for a meeting and receive personalized results without opening Daydream. Results can be further tailored through the “Style Passport,” which includes information about size, preferred brands, personal style and budget. Daydream co-founder and CEO Julie Bornstein said the company aims to develop a shopping agent that can work across different use cases in the long term. The app, launched last year, says it has more than 1.5 million users who browse products from 325 retailers and 10,000 brands. The catalog includes Anthropologie, Dolce & Gabbana, Uniqlo, J.Crew, Reformation, Gucci and Nordstrom.

Why it matters

This integration reduces the need to know a product’s name when searching for fashion online or to search in a separate shopping app; for users, the starting point can now be an existing image or an expression of an everyday need. However, the experience remains limited to users with access to iOS 27, Siri AI and the Daydream app. Whether the product in the image is still available for sale determines whether the result provides a direct purchase link or similar options. Personalization, meanwhile, becomes dependent on the extent to which size, brand, style and budget information is transferred to the system. Daydream’s referral model for retailers places the app not only as a discovery tool but also at the early stage of the shopping decision.
