Microsoft prepared emergency patches dated September 14 following the security updates released for Windows 11 on September 8. KB5124012 for Windows 11 26H1 caused RDP connections to drop, sign-in issues, and servers to become unresponsive during configuration in some enterprise environments; Microsoft Management Console, RDS Licensing Diagnoser, File Explorer, and the Windows Update page may also freeze. Plan9 shares may not appear or open on HCS-managed Linux virtual machines. While the issue affects Claude Cowork and Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), Hyper-V machines that do not use Plan9 are unaffected. USB Audio Class 1.0 devices may not work, may produce no sound, or may display Code 10. While the patches resolve the 8-channel and 3D audio issue, other USB problems persist; the required package varies depending on the Windows 11 version.
