Introduction

IEEE, in cooperation with the Bhutanese government, held the Engineering Education, Research and Innovation Summit in Paro on June 9-10.

Developments

The summit focused on digital transformation, engineering education and sustainable development, addressing practice- and skills-based curricula, the integration of artificial intelligence into higher education, the development of research capacity and digital access across the country.

Princess Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck of Bhutan emphasized that technological innovations should be aligned with the country’s philosophy of gross national happiness, which encompasses prosperity, sustainability and ethical principles.

Details

IEEE also provided universities, public institutions and industry organizations in Bhutan with six months of free trial access to the IEEE Electronic Library, which offers more than 7 million documents through IEEE Xplore, and the IEEE eLearning Library, which includes online courses.
