Former MİT member Kaşif Kozinoğlu’s cellmate, retired Gendarmerie Colonel Hasan Atilla Uğur, was detained at Istanbul Airport as part of the investigation into Kozinoğlu’s death at Silivri Prison in 2011. Retired Navy Captain Hasan Ataman Yıldırım and former prosecutors Ali İşgören and Necip Doğan were also detained in simultaneous operations in Istanbul and Ankara. The detention procedures were reported to be ongoing.

Why it matters

The fact that the detentions were carried out simultaneously in Istanbul and Ankara shows that the investigation is not limited to a single person and includes individuals with different professional backgrounds. The detention of retired military officers and former prosecutors in the same case raises questions about the scope of the investigation and the connection through which these individuals are being linked to the incident. The information that the procedures are ongoing indicates that no completed judicial assessment has yet been made in the case and that the detentions are procedures carried out at the investigation stage. However, the available information does not explain which specific allegations the decisions are based on, what charges have been brought against the suspects, or what the next steps in the investigation will be.

Hasan is not a new name in the FikirPilot archive: we published a news report mentioning this name in the last 90 days; that article is dated September 18, 2026.
