Gimlet Labs Raises $300 Million at a $3 Billion Valuation
Microprocessors and circuit board

US-based Gimlet Labs, which focuses on the efficiency of artificial intelligence applications, has raised 300 million dollars in funding led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). Arm Holdings and Microsoft’s venture capital fund M12 also participated in the round. Founded in 2023, the company’s valuation has risen to 3 billion dollars.

Gimlet Labs will use the funding to develop its technology for distributing artificial intelligence workloads across different types of chips and to increase its compatibility with various chip architectures, including Arm. The company’s software aims to optimize hardware utilization and the performance of artificial intelligence applications by distributing tasks among GPU, CPU and different accelerators.

Why it matters

This development scales up an approach focused on managing together the hardware options used to run artificial intelligence applications. The distribution of workloads among GPU, CPU and different accelerators directly affects the question of performance and how efficiently available hardware can be used for application developers. The participation of Arm and Microsoft’s venture capital fund in the round places the solution’s goal of compatibility with different chip architectures at the center of the company’s growth plan. However, the open question is how consistently the software will perform across different hardware combinations and which use cases Arm compatibility will cover in practice. The announced valuation also shows that the company has generated high expectations in this technical field in a short time.
