The Yarının Köyleri Project, a collaboration between Trendyol and UNDP, supports rural producers, cooperatives and businesses with knowledge, skills and experience. During the summer, digital centers hosted training sessions on branding, business management, digitalization and product development. In programs that began in July in İzmir Ulamış and Sakarya Taraklı, and continued in Hatay, Denizli İnceler and Diyarbakır Bağıvar, participants were shown how to showcase their products, reach customers through digital channels, plan income-generating activities and use resources efficiently. Those who complete the training are given the opportunity to offer their products at the Yarının Köyleri Boutique on Trendyol.
Training on using artificial intelligence for product and market research, visual enhancement and campaign content creation was also added to the program. The training sessions, which began on July 13 in İzmir Ulamış, will continue in Diyarbakır, Adana and Hatay starting in September, following Denizli and Sakarya. The Musical Story Workshop for children was held in Sakarya Taraklı on August 4, following Adana Kürkçüler, Denizli İnceler and İzmir Ulamış; children became acquainted with musical instruments through games, fairy tales and live music.
Why it matters
The project provides rural producers and cooperatives not only with training support but also with a sales connection through which their products can gain visibility on digital channels. The addition of artificial intelligence topics to the program aims to teach participants processes such as market research, visual preparation and campaign creation; this indicates that the support is focused on marketing capacity as much as production. However, it is unclear to what extent the products have secured a place in the online boutique following the completion of the training sessions and how this has translated into the producers’ income-generating activities. Moreover, since the announcement comes in the form of sponsor-backed and promotion-heavy content, the project’s independent results, participants’ experiences and measurable impacts require verification beyond this text.
