Xteink timeline
Boox shared new information about the Picco e-reader, which it announced in July and is targeting at the Xteink X4, as part of IFA 2026. The device will not have rear magnets for connecting to a phone, while its price has not been disclosed. The 3.97-inch e-paper display will be touch-enabled.
Latest on Picco
The physical page-turn buttons will be customizable by assigning different functions to short and long presses.
The Picco, which does not offer internal storage, will use a microSD card exclusively for books. Files can be added to the card, while reading content can also be transferred via USB-C or over WiFi through a companion app. Instead of Android, the device will run a simplified Linux-based operating system featuring timer, to-do list and reading statistics apps.
Xteink data
Since Boox is not expected to make its firmware as open as Xteink’s, the Picco may be less customizable. Battery life, Bluetooth and the audiobook player are unknown. The release is expected in November.
