Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against Yeni Parti lawmakers Ümit Özlale and Cemal Enginyurt over the fund allegations; she also filed a lawsuit against Özlale seeking 1 million lira in moral damages.
Özlale had claimed that Göktaş’s father, Hasan Özdemir, carried out transactions totaling 830 million lira in the PHE and PRY funds, and alleged that he had MKK documents to prove it. The petitions stated that the identity numbers of the person who carried out the transactions and of Özdemir were different, and that the allegations stemmed from a similarity of names. It was also noted that Enginyurt shared the same allegations on social media. In the petitions, which argued that the statements violated personal rights and could negatively affect confidence in the capital markets, an investigation was requested on the following charges:
- insult
- slander
- unlawfully disseminating personal data
- publicly spreading misleading information
- information-based market fraud
