Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş announced that the regulation banning the provision of social media services to children under the age of 15 has been published in the Official Gazette and will enter into force on November 1.

  • Age verification will be carried out via e-Devlet, without sharing identity information.
  • Accounts belonging to 15-18 year olds will be private; follower information will not be visible, and live streaming and screenshots will be blocked.
  • Addictive designs will be restricted; children’s data cannot be used for profiling and personalized advertising.
  • Platforms will apply filtering against harmful content.
  • Parents will be able to control account settings, paid transactions, screen time, and location sharing.
  • Existing accounts will undergo age verification at least once by March 31, 2027.
