Audi A6 Sportback e-tron performance covered 1,338 kilometers on a single charge during a drive in Poland undertaken by rally driver Miko Marczyk. Audi announced that the journey, during which average consumption was 7.09 kWh per 100 kilometers and which lasted more than 45 hours, had been recorded as a Guinness World Record. The average temperature during the drive in normal traffic was 15 degrees. The vehicle offers a net battery capacity of 94.9 kWh, while its WLTP range reaches up to 777 kilometers.
Why it matters
The record provides a concrete example showing that the catalog range of electric cars and the distance achievable in real-world driving do not depend on the same conditions. The difference between the highest WLTP range and the result achieved in this drive shows that consumption must be assessed together with factors such as route, air temperature, speed and driving style; however, not all of these elements are covered in detail in the report. The fact that the drive took place in normal traffic distinguishes the result from laboratory data, but it does not mean that a single test will deliver the same distance for every user. The key question that remains open is whether the vehicle can maintain a similar level of consumption under different traffic density, speed and temperature conditions.
