SAIC-Volkswagen has launched the updated 2027 Passat Pro in China. The model is equipped with Matrix LED headlights, a new front grille, a three-screen layout, 10 airbags, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and semi-autonomous driving technologies.
The regular starting price is 172,000 yuan, but during the launch period it starts at 139,900 yuan (approximately $20,800). The first buyers are offered a lifetime warranty covering the engine and transmission, provided the vehicle is not used commercially and is maintained at authorized service centers. Offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the model’s 1.5-liter Turbo engine produces 160 horsepower and 250 Nm, while the 2.0-liter Turbo engine produces 220 horsepower and 350 Nm.
Why it matters
The launch price shows that the model is being offered with a lower entry point than its regular starting price, although this advantage appears to be limited to the promotional period. Since the lifetime engine and transmission warranty covers only the first buyers who do not use the vehicle commercially and continue to have it maintained at authorized service centers, the warranty terms may be a determining factor in the purchase decision. The two engine options give users with different performance expectations a choice within the same model, but it is not disclosed which equipment is paired with which engine. While the range of safety and driver assistance systems has expanded, the report describes the sales and launch terms in China; therefore, it remains unclear whether the price and warranty information can be applied directly to other markets.
