Global investment in Türkiye’s digital future
A modern data center corridor

Construction has begun on the first phase of the data center campus being developed by the partnership between Rönesans Holding and Digital Realty in Ankara Temelli. The first phase is planned to have more than 22 MW of IT capacity and over 10 thousand square meters of white space, while the center is expected to become operational in 2028. Following Ankara, the announcement of a new campus investment in Istanbul is also targeted.

The partnership is expected to reach 200 MW of capacity and investment potential of up to 3 billion dollars in Türkiye over the long term. The investments aim to meet capacity needs in artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, data storage and connectivity infrastructure, and to strengthen Türkiye’s position as a regional digital infrastructure hub.

Why it matters

The significance of the investment lies in linking the goal of expanding the scale of the physical infrastructure underpinning digital services in Türkiye to a concrete capacity plan. While this is important for actors that use or provide capacity in artificial intelligence, cloud services, data storage and connectivity infrastructure, it also supports the goal of strengthening Ankara’s role in this ecosystem. With the planned extension of the investment to Istanbul, the distribution of infrastructure between the two cities and Türkiye’s ambition to become a regional digital hub will be assessed within a broader framework. However, how the long-term capacity and investment potential will be brought to life in stages, and when the plan for the Istanbul campus will become clear, remain open questions that will determine the scope of these goals.
