While phone cameras are increasingly becoming serious devices, their lenses remain a limiting factor. Evan Monsma, who previously replaced a broken iPhone lens with a C-mount lens, has now returned with an improved version of this project. In the previous version, the part attached with cyanoacrylate adhesive had come loose.

Technical details

In the new design, the mounting piece machined from solid brass covers two of the cameras, while leaving a clear view for the unmodified third camera. The piece was fixed to the phone with epoxy; 3D-printed covers were prepared to protect the lenses, and a tripod socket was machined into its base.

Monsma tested the setup with both C-mount and EF-mount lenses; using EF-mount provided a very long effective focal length.
