Support for The Batman 2 has come from Steven Soderbergh. Matt Reeves announced in a post on X that he was stepping away from the set to attend to a family matter and that he was not leaving the director’s chair on The Batman 2, also noting that he was grateful to Steven Soderbergh for his support in completing the remaining filming. Filming had been paused earlier this month. According to Deadline, Soderbergh, the director of Ocean’s Eleven, offered to help the crew finish the remaining filming. DC Studios issued a statement. DC Studios announced that Soderbergh would join the team for the final few weeks of principal photography, and James Gunn, the head of the studio, confirmed that Reeves would remain as director.
The film’s release date was initially planned as October 3, 2025, and was later postponed first to October 2, 2026, and then to October 1, 2027. The current date is February 18, 2028.
