Spotify’s Taste Profile beta feature shows users the taste profile it creates from their music, podcast and audiobook listening. Users can state in natural language what they want to see more or less of in the recommendations on the home page.
As of September 23, the feature was made available to mobile Premium subscribers aged 18 and older in the US. No date was given for Türkiye. Spotify had started the trial with Premium members in New Zealand in March. Users can access the feature through their profile photo and write their requests in the “Tell us more” section. Recommendations may take a few minutes to update; the commands entered do not amount to definitive artist bans.
Why it matters
The trial shows that Spotify is attempting to move personalization beyond passive recommendations based solely on listening history toward a setting that users can directly influence. Evaluating music, podcasts and audiobooks within the same taste profile offers users broader control over how content on the home page is shaped. However, because preferences communicated in natural language do not create definitive artist blocks, it remains unclear to what extent this control changes recommendations. The fact that access is limited to adult mobile Premium subscribers in the US shows that the feature has not yet been made generally available. For users in Türkiye, the main uncertainty is when and to what extent the trial will be offered.
Background
The US is not a new name in the FikirPilot archive: we have published 35 news reports mentioning the name in the last 90 days; the latest was dated September 24, 2026.
