Samsung Art TV Comes Together with Art at Contemporary Istanbul
Digital screens in the modern art gallery

Samsung is setting up the Samsung Art TV space at the 21st edition of Contemporary Istanbul at Tersane Istanbul from 23-27 September 2026, positioning the television as part of the art experience. The color-, light- and movement-focused works of South Korean multidisciplinary artist Vakki, along with the “Spaces of Memory and Cycles” installation, blur the boundaries between the screen and the physical space. Visitors can create their own works during the “Portrait of an Invisible Rhythm” event.

  • The Frame: Displays a work of art with Art Mode when not in use.
  • The Frame Pro: Offers a Neo QLED 4K panel, a matte surface, a replaceable frame and Wireless One Connect.
  • Micro RGB: Controls the red, green and blue light sources separately.
  • OLED: Is exhibited with Vakki’s works.

Samsung Art Store features more than 5,000 works, more than 800 artists and more than 80 global partners. Content from Tate, Art Basel, the Louvre and Istanbul Modern reaches users. Samsung considers the project a continuation of the approach that began with CI BLOOM; according to Omdia data, it states that it was the global TV market leader for 20 years during the 2006-2025 period.

Why it matters

This event shows that the television is presented not merely as a device for watching content, but as an interface through which people engage with art. For this reason, the development is of interest to viewers who consider display technology and art content together, as well as users who want to display works of art in their homes. The inclusion of different display types within the same artistic framework brings to the fore the question of how image quality, surface and design features contribute to the art experience. The diversity of content in the Art Store, meanwhile, raises the issue of which art content and partnerships users can access in their homes, showing that this approach is not limited to the presentation at the event venue. The fact that visitors can create their own works also highlights the interactive dimension that moves viewers out of a passive role.
