Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu said at the “High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Preparedness” during the opening week of the 81st United Nations (UN) General Assembly that pandemics require shared responsibility and collective action for global health security. He stated that Türkiye had protected citizens’ access to medical treatment during the Kovid-19 pandemic with its strong healthcare infrastructure and had transformed its experience and capabilities into global solidarity. Memişoğlu said they had provided medical assistance to countries in need without expecting anything in return, emphasizing that health is a fundamental human right. Drawing attention to the situation in Gaza, where women and children are being killed and people cannot access vaccines and essential medicines, he called for an end to inequality in healthcare services. He called on all countries to unite around shared humanitarian values and to share knowledge and experience.
