Canada-based Altis Labs, which develops artificial intelligence for oncology and clinical research, has raised 25 million dollars in Series A funding led by OrbiMed and Qiming Venture Partners USA. Innovation Endeavors, Benchstrength, Fusion Fund and Cancer Breakthrough Fund also participated in the round. The company will use the investment to expand its artificial intelligence models to different types of cancer and scale their commercial applications with biopharma companies.
Founded by Felix Baldauf-Lenschen in 2019, Altis Labs analyzes medical images used in clinical trials of cancer drugs. The company’s IPRO model generates predictions about patients’ survival based on routine radiology images. The technology is being offered with the aim of assessing the efficacy of drugs earlier in studies from Phase 1 through Phase 4 and eliminating unsuccessful treatments more quickly.
