Introduction
Nuclear energy startup Apollo Atomics raised a total of 31 million dollars in a FCVC-led funding round, comprising 26 million dollars in equity and 5 million dollars in debt. Founded in 2025, the company will use the funding to develop a demonstration model of the nuclear reactor it plans to commercialize in 2028.
Developments
Founded by Assil Halimi and Drew Walker, Apollo Atomics is focused on miniaturizing the steam generators that convert heat into electricity in reactors.
Details
The company says its compact metal block design, featuring needle-thin channels, enables a system 40 times smaller than reactors using conventional steam generators. Apollo Atomics aims to build 300-megawatt power plants in less than 24 months.
