Introduction
The hand-operated Cyclostyle copying machine, dating from 1890, made it possible to produce numerous prints from a stencil prepared by scraping away specific sections of special wax-coated paper.
Developments
Ink transferred to the stencil via rollers passed through the areas where the coating had been removed onto new paper.
Details
Models developed later automated some stages to make the process faster and more precise; over time, new technologies replaced them.
