NATO Summit schedule
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed a lawsuit against 45 people over the protest planned to be held in Kurtuluş Park on July 7 against the 36th NATO Summit. The defendants include Halkevleri General Chair Linda Sevinç Hocaoğulları, TİP Ankara Provincial Chair Fırat Çoban, EMEP Ankara Provincial Chair Rüstem Kahraman, and EHP Ankara Provincial Chair Öykü Ilgın Gürses.
Statements on Ankara
The indictment stated that ahead of the summit held in Ankara on July 7-8, 2026, the governor’s office banned meetings and demonstrations between June 28 and July 10 with a decision dated June 22, 2026, and that police intervened after the groups failed to comply with the warning to disperse. The 45 people will be tried on charges of “participating unarmed in unlawful meetings and marches and failing to disperse voluntarily despite the warning.”
Statements on NATO
Some of the suspects exercised their right to remain silent, while others rejected the charges. Çoban said, “We are proud. On November 11, it is we who are putting NATO and its local collaborators on trial.”
