Air quality measurement sensor

Introduction

NASA’s Multi-Angle Imager for Aerosols (MAIA) mission measured PM2.5 pollution with 10 sensors in Addis Ababa over three years.

Developments

The data showed that air pollution varied by time of day and season, and increased during heavy traffic and holiday celebrations.

Details

The space observatory that will carry the mission’s camera, developed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, will be launched by Italian Space Agency (ASI) no earlier than late 2027.
