In its standard practice, Apple starts pre-orders on the first Friday after the launch and begins deliveries the following Friday. According to this schedule, pre-orders were supposed to start on Friday, September 11. A report by Macwelt, citing a reliable source, claimed that Apple could postpone the date to Saturday, September 12.
According to the claim, the reason for the change is that September 11, 2026, marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Apple faced a similar situation in 2015 and moved pre-orders for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus to Saturday, September 12, because the standard pre-order date fell on September 11.
It is also reported that the pre-order time could be changed. The company is said to be able to open the order window, which it traditionally launches at 05:00 in the morning, at midnight on Saturday this year. The delayed schedule is expected to apply to the other hardware products to be unveiled at the event, particularly the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4.
