Hulu has canceled *Not Suitable for Work*, the series created by Mindy Kaling, after its 9-episode first season. Ella Hunt, Avantika, Will Angus, Jack Martin, Nicholas Duvernay and Jay Ellis starred in the production, which tells the story of five 20-somethings trying to balance their careers and personal lives.
Reaching an average of 800 thousand viewers over 11 days with its first 5 episodes, the series ranked among Hulu’s low-rated projects in recent years. The production company, Warner Bros. Television, plans to offer the series to other platforms. *Not Suitable for Work* is available to watch on Disney+ in Türkiye.
Why it matters
The decision shows that the series’ first-season performance was not considered sufficient by Hulu to continue the production; therefore, how many episodes reached viewers, as well as how the platform evaluates its viewing data, has become decisive. Although the production company’s plan to offer the series to other platforms does not mean the project has been completely closed down, it leaves the possibility of a continuation dependent on the decision of a new broadcaster. This also means that, for viewers following the series on Disney+ in Türkiye, the future of the production and which platform any potential new seasons would appear on remain uncertain. The fundamental question that remains open is whether another platform will show interest in taking over the series and continuing its story.
