Developed based on the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage was created as a modern interpretation of the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Shooting Brake, of which only one example was produced in 1972. Designed through approximately 15 thousand hours of work, the car features renewed body panels except for the doors; the extended roof and electrically opening “butterfly” glass wings form the rear section.
The car retains its 620-horsepower 6.0-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine and has approximately 43,800 kilometers on the odometer. The one-off model will be offered at auction in October in Knokke-Heist, Belgium, and is expected to fetch between 450 thousand and 650 thousand euros.
Why it matters
This car stands out not merely as a visual modification of a well-known Ferrari model, but as a reinterpretation of a historic design through a one-off example. The renewal of most of the body panels and the design of the rear section around a different approach to usability distinguish the car from a standard 599 GTB; meanwhile, retaining the V12 engine offers an indication of the mechanical basis of the conversion. The upcoming auction will reveal how the approximately 15 thousand hours of design and production work will be evaluated together with the car’s history and current mileage. The key question that remains is to what extent the estimated price range will correspond with this original design and its status as a one-off.
