Interpol statements
An Interpol crisis has erupted in the Falkland dispute. According to the Guardian, the United Kingdom has applied to Interpol for the rejection of Argentina’s requests for the arrest of individuals working on the oil project off the Falkland Islands, arguing in a letter sent to the headquarters in Lyon that the red notice requests were “politically motivated.”
Argentine President Javier Milei had given London a two-week deadline on September 28, threatening to initiate arbitration if the Sea Lion project, involving Israeli Navitas and British Rockhopper Exploration, was not halted.
Law of the Sea timeline
The deadline expired on October 12. Argentina is expected to file an application under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The losses were extremely heavy. During the 1982 war, 649 Argentine and 255 British soldiers were killed, and three island residents also lost their lives in the same conflict.
