The Asus Cetra Open wireless earbuds stand out with their open design, which allows users to hear external sounds, successful audio quality and long battery life. The earbuds can be extensively customized through a mobile or browser app, and can be charged while gaming thanks to the connection via the USB-C 2.4GHz transmitter; this port supports charging of up to 60W but does not offer data transfer.
The product can be used with Steam Deck, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and phones, and is sold on Amazon and Best Buy for $206.99 instead of $229.99. In addition to Bluetooth connectivity, the package also includes a reflective band worn around the back of the neck.
Why it matters
The product’s open design directly affects the usage preferences of users who do not want to completely block out the sounds around them; by contrast, the same approach may be a limitation for those seeking sound isolation. The ability to customize the earbuds through mobile and browser interfaces allows them to be adjusted to different usage habits. Compatibility ranging from Steam Deck to PlayStation 5 will interest those who want to use a single pair of earbuds with multiple devices, while the ability to charge during gaming reduces the need to manage connectivity and battery use together. However, the USB-C port’s lack of data transfer limits this connection to charging; the extent to which the discounted price matches this balance of features depends on the buyer’s priorities.
