Economic Management Meets in Beştepe
The Economic Coordination Council (EKK) convened at the Presidential Complex under the chairmanship of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz. At the critical meeting, held behind closed doors, strategic steps that will shape the roadmap for Türkiye’s economy in the coming period were discussed.
Senior representatives of the economic administration attended the meeting. Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı and Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat participated in the meeting. AK Parti Group Chair Abdullah Güler, AK Parti Deputy Chair Mustafa Elitaş, Head of the Presidential Strategy and Budget Office İbrahim Şenel, Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran and Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (TCMB) Governor Fatih Karahan also took part in the council’s proceedings.
New Medium-Term Program Tops the Agenda
The meeting focused on preparations for the new Medium-Term Program (OVP), which is planned to be shared with the public in the first week of September. The economic administration conducted a detailed assessment of macroeconomic targets for the next 3-year period, growth projections, the trajectory for combating inflation, current account deficit expectations and employment policies.
The preparations, carried out under the coordination of the Presidential Strategy and Budget Office and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, emphasized fiscal discipline and structural reform measures. The details of the program, which is being prepared concurrently with the 2027 central government budget preparation process, are also expected to be announced to the public in a written statement following the discussions.
