Raquel Lee Bolleau, who appeared as a child actor in The Amanda Show and The Proud Family, sued Disney, alleging that a former employee sexually assaulted and raped her during the filming of the 2001 movie The Poof Point. Disney was accused of negligence in a lawsuit filed by the 39-year-old actress in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday.
Disney latest developments
Bolleau alleged that the employee, whose name was not disclosed and who was referred to as John Doe, gained her trust, gave her alcohol and sexually assaulted her in Salt Lake City and on the flight back to California. The complaint alleged that adults on the set could see the abuse, that Disney failed to intervene in the sexually inappropriate behavior and that it did not provide the actress with medical support.
According to the lawsuit, Disney executives blamed and threatened Bolleau and her mother because of changes in her behavior; the actress’s role in another production was also canceled.
The Independent’s follow-up
Bolleau sought an unspecified amount in damages, stating that the trauma she experienced had disrupted her career. The Independent asked Disney for comment.
