Kayaşehir Şeyh figures
A knife attack was carried out in the morning hours at Kayaşehir Şeyh Şamil İmam Hatip Middle School in Istanbul’s Başakşehir district. A female student who had graduated from the school and was attending another high school came to her former school wearing a school uniform and attacked students with a knife. 8 students were injured; the attacker was detained, and the injured were taken to hospitals.
Davut Gül’s remarks
Parents who heard the news rushed to the school, police took extensive security measures, and a judicial investigation was launched.
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül visited the injured at Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital. Gül said that the condition of 5 students was mild, that 2 students had no life-threatening injuries, and that one student was in surgery. Noting that the attacker lived near the school, Gül said, “She stabs children without targeting anyone.”
Kemal Memişoğlu schedule
Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu, meanwhile, announced that of the 8 injured, 1 was in critical condition and 2 were in moderate-to-serious condition.
RTÜK announced that a broadcast ban on the incident had been imposed until the investigation is completed, by a decision of the Istanbul 3rd Criminal Judgeship of Peace dated October 6.
