The Peace Foundation called on the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye to enact legal and constitutional amendments for a democratic solution, social peace and equal citizenship in the new legislative year, and to prepare a roadmap for the peace process. On the eve of the second year of the new peace process, the foundation said there was an opportunity to end conflict and violence, address the root causes of the Kurdish issue and achieve lasting peace. The statement called for the 4th legislative year of the 28th term to be declared the year of peace, and for fundamental rights and freedoms and democratic politics to be guaranteed. It called for a Monitoring Commission to be established in accordance with the adopted law, with civil society representatives and expert academics taking part in the work. The foundation emphasized that peace requires trust, freedom of expression and equal participation.
