Adobe confirmed that it acquired India-based marketing intelligence startup Rilo on 2 September 2026 through a deal involving licensing and the transfer of its team. Financial terms were not disclosed; the company also declined to comment. This is Adobe’s second acquisition in India; the first was video platform Rephrase.ai, which it acquired in 2023.

Founded in 2025 by IIT classmates Georgi Boby and Dhruv Jaglan, Rilo raised $1 million from investors including Peak XV, DeVC and Day Zero Ventures, reaching a valuation of $10 million. According to a source, the investors will exit through the deal; Adobe will integrate some of Rilo’s intellectual property and its six-person team. Jaglan wrote on LinkedIn that more than 10,000 people had tried the tool.

Rilo enabled go-to-market teams to create specialized workflows such as competitive intelligence, content repurposing and distribution, and sales-call analysis. The tool offered customizable processes similar to Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Work. The technology was said to have the potential to strengthen Adobe’s existing products and services for large customers.

Following the acquisition, Rilo will shut down and will not be made available to customers. Adobe acquired SEO optimization company Semrush for $1.9 billion last year. Canva is also expanding its marketing portfolio, while Amazon, Google and Meta have built their own AI-powered marketing infrastructure.

Why it matters

The fact that Rilo will not continue as an independent product indicates that the transaction is aimed at adding capacity to Adobe’s existing marketing and enterprise solutions rather than directly creating a new customer service. The intellectual property and six-person team acquired by the company stand out as assets that could bring workflows such as competitor analysis, content distribution and sales-call analysis to Adobe’s products. For this reason, the development creates an integration topic worth monitoring, particularly in terms of the scope of the services Adobe offers its large customers and competition among AI-powered marketing tools. For Rilo’s investors, the deal represents an exit, while the financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. Which products Adobe will integrate this technology into, and on what timeline, remains the key unanswered question.

Background
