Mike Flanagan revealed his dream projects during a Q&A session on Reddit: He wants to direct a Jaws or a Jurassic film. The director said that for most of his career he thought he would stay away from franchises and sequels, but that he enjoys putting his own spin on a world he respects. He stated that he would like to make a Jurassic film as a genuinely frightening horror movie with dinosaurs.
While Steven Spielberg’s 1975 Jaws is considered one of the milestones of cinema history, Jaws 2, directed by Jeannot Szwarc in 1978, fell short of the first film but gained its own fan base over time. The third and fourth films, meanwhile, are cited among the worst of all time.
On the Jurassic side, Gareth Edwards left the franchise due to creative differences following Rebirth; it has been reported that J.A. Bayona could return.
Flanagan’s Carrie series is streaming on Prime Video, while The Exorcist: Martyrs, starring Scarlett Johansson, will hit theaters on March 12, 2027.
