Saadet Party Chairman Mahmut Arıkan spoke at the Yeni Yol Party group meeting. Arıkan congratulated Yeniden Refah Party Konya MP Ali Yüksel for joining the Yeni Yol Group; he prayed for mercy for Eslem Sare Bulut, who lost her life in the school attack in Istanbul, wished a speedy recovery to the injured students, and offered condolences to the family of police officer Ahmet Türkoğlu, who was martyred in Ankara’s Pursaklar district.
Stating that they would turn Parliament’s rostrum into the nation’s rostrum in the new legislative year, Arıkan said they would bring to the rostrum the problems they had listened to in Anatolia. Noting that the Turkey described by the government is different from the Turkey the nation lives in, Arıkan argued that the fund scam was not a matter of negligence but the work of an organized structure; he stated that what was stolen was not only money, but the nation’s hope, trust, and future.
Arıkan emphasized that the losses should not be covered out of citizens’ pockets and that every penny should be recovered from those responsible. Demanding that the questions “who held it, who cut it, who cooked it, who ate it” about the fund be answered one by one, Arıkan said that AK Party member Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and her husband had not been called to testify, and that yesterday five opposition groups submitted a motion for the fund scam to be discussed, but Parliament was shut down. Arıkan stated that Parliament, which remained open even during the War of Independence, was closed so that the fund scam would not be discussed.
