Iran prepares for US attacks: “Gulf countries back in the crosshairs”
Mountainous desert terrain and defense lines

Iran is preparing for US attacks. According to the Wall Street Journal, Iran is bracing for the possibility that Trump will order renewed attacks after the November 3 midterm elections. Satellite images show that nuclear facilities and border regions have been fortified, and that defensive lines have been built against a ground operation around Kazma Mountain, also known as “Kolang Mountain,” and Natanz. The US and Israel claim that nuclear centrifuges are hidden beneath the mountain. Although Trump said there would be no attack before the November 3 midterm elections, he had stated in July that Kazma Mountain could be struck.

The announcements were published in Tahran. While billboards advertised anti-aircraft missile and sniper rifle training for civilians, pro-regime demonstrations also increased during the same period.

Since its air defense capacity is limited, Iran is reported to be planning to target Gulf countries in order to establish deterrence against possible attacks. Muhsin Rızai openly warned. Muhsin Rızai, who said that cable, data center, and artificial intelligence facilities in the BAE could be struck in the event of an attack, stated that the value of these assets exceeds 2 trillion dollars. Iranian officials warned about Suudi refineries. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bekayi, meanwhile, announced that the talks conducted with the mediation of Pakistan and Katar are still ongoing.

Why it matters

The timetable of the tension is now tied to the November 3 midterm elections; this date constitutes a de facto threshold for both military preparations and diplomacy. Iran, whose air defense is limited, shifting its deterrence to the Gulf carries the cost of a possible conflict beyond the two sides: the BAE’s digital infrastructure, exceeding 2 trillion dollars, and the Suudi refineries show Tehran’s effort to build its bargaining power through the regional economy and energy markets. The civilian training announcements on the streets of Tehran, meanwhile, indicate that the regime is preparing society for a prolonged reckoning. The open question is whether the talks continuing under the mediation of Pakistan and Katar can produce results before the pre-election window closes.
