Nimet Üykü statements
An autopsy of Ağa and Nimet Üykü, whose home burned down in the Karakoçan district of Elazığ on September 8, determined that they had each been killed by a firearm bullet to the chest and that the incident had been staged to look like a fire. JASAT, which determined that 2 bracelets, 1 necklace and 2 earrings belonging to Nimet Üykü had been stolen, identified and apprehended H.Ç., who had fled to Istanbul and attempted to sell the gold at a jeweler, through airport X-Ray footage. H.Ç. was arrested on charges of “intentional homicide” and “robbery.”

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi congratulated the gendarmerie. JASAT solved 11 thousand 808 of 12 thousand 280 major incidents in 2026 and solved all 209 intentional homicide cases. Red notices were issued for 24 fugitive suspects.
