Harris’s timeline
It has been claimed that Doug Emhoff, the husband of former US Vice President Kamala Harris, does not think it would be right for his wife to run for president again in 2028. According to unnamed sources who spoke to The Wall Street Journal, Emhoff will nevertheless support Harris if she enters the race.
Harris, who became the Democratic Party’s nominee in 2024 after Joe Biden withdrew, lost the election to Donald Trump. The 61-year-old Harris said last month that she had not made a decision on running again and that her priority was the midterm elections in November.
Democratic reactions to Harris
Her meetings with donors and visits to battleground states are being interpreted as preparation for a candidacy. Strategist Donna Brazile stated that Harris is ready to help Democratic candidates. The majority within the party wants a new candidate; California Governor Gavin Newsom had announced that he would not run if Harris enters the race.
