The 9-article Bill on Certain Investment Funds Ordered to Be Liquidated, submitted to the TBMM, will be discussed by the Planning and Budget Commission on Wednesday, October 14. The bill submitted by AK Parti last Friday covers 131 investment funds belonging to 7 fund companies liquidated under the decisions dated September 17, 2026, of SPK (Turkey’s capital markets regulator). The liquidation will be carried out by institutions assigned under the supervision of SPK; fund share ownership will be determined through the records of MKK, Takasbank, TEFAS and custodial institutions. Those with net investments below 1 million lira will receive the full amount, while those above that threshold will receive an interim payment of up to 1 million lira. The final payment will be calculated based on the arithmetic average of the changes in TÜFE and Yİ-ÜFE and the net investment amount. Payments will be funded by the funds’ existing assets and the assets recovered and collected. No payment will be made to those found to have engaged in market fraud, insider dealing or market-distorting actions. The bill is expected to come before the General Assembly next week. The KİT Commission, meanwhile, will begin examining the 2023 and 2024 accounts of 45 public institutions this week.
